When VoxiGen is the better pick

  • You want to start free, in a browser, before paying for anything.
  • You build whole levels, not only single assets, and want them in Godot.
  • You want characters rigged and animated inside the editor.
  • You want AI to block out models and characters for you to finish.

When Qubicle is the better pick

  • You already have a Qubicle pipeline and a library of .qb files.
  • You want a mature desktop tool for characters split into parts.
  • You work offline on a desktop.

Questions

Can VoxiGen open Qubicle files?

Not .qb files directly. Export the model from Qubicle as .vox and open that in VoxiGen.

Is there a free alternative to Qubicle?

VoxiGen's editor is free in the browser with no account. Mesh and level export for game engines, with commercial use, come with the Founder licence, $29.99 once.

Does VoxiGen work for game characters?

Yes. Character mode rigs a model on a skeleton and plays animations such as idle, walk, run and attack, and Build can make a rigged character from a description.
